Building of Municipal Company "Obredi" EOOD /Ritual House/

The current building is a reconstruction of several Turkish houses that existed on this site, which were united in a common building and were rebuilt in the 1970s for the functions of a Ritual House. The author of the project is arch. Kamen Goranov (arch. Kamen Goranov Bebinov, 1925-1985). The building is located in a large yard and is freely built in relation to the neighboring buildings. The main approach is from the yard. It consists of two floors, and from the south, the entire height of the basement floor is visible. The building has a massive construction. Parts of the basement floor of some of the buildings remain from the original. above the ground floor, the volume represents a reconstruction. The mezzanine structures and the roof are wooden, and the walls are made of brick, covered with wood on the north facades and with plaster on the south facades. The original plan structure has been completely redesigned for the needs of the ritual house. From the original volumes, citations remain in the area of the bay windows to the south and the overall height. Apart from the installed modern gutters, there are no other visible traces of interventions.

Regardless of the fact that a large part of the building is a free reconstruction following the style of the original, it is a representative of one of the oldest layers of the city's architecture, namely the Black Sea Renaissance residential building of the 19th century. Arch. Goranov is the doyenne of highly qualified specialists in the field of cultural heritage preservation. Regardless of some compromises in purely scientific and architectural terms, which are the fruit of the time in which he worked, his restored Renaissance buildings are still a sustainable example of preservation in the 70s of the 20th century. In the same direction, even if there is a deviation from the original and the current criteria for restoration and preservation, the "Ritual House - Varna" complex is material evidence of the beginning of the policy of preservation and protection of the architectural heritage of the city.
