Година на построяване

1954 - 55

Кратка информация

The object is a complex of twenty-four units, intended for study buildings, dormitories and a planetarium for the cadets of the school. The buildings with valuable characteristics of immovable cultural heritage were built for the academic year 1954-1955. The designer was arch. Mladen Denkov from PRONO-Sofia (National Defense Design Organization). In 1957, a bust-monument of the poet Vaptsarov was placed in front of the school's entrance. The author of the sculpture is Kiril Sivilev. In 1968 all three buildings have been upgraded by one floor each. In October 1988, a nine-meter monument to N.Y. Vaptsarov's author, Prof. Dimitar Daskalov, was erected in the school yard. The architectural environment and landscaping are the work of arch. Mikhail Yankov. On 07.12.1988, the bust-monument of K. Sivilev was moved from the school entrance to Musala square, to the garden in front of the Architect's House.

The buildings have a high degree of authenticity and have been completely preserved in their original form. The same applies to the elements of improvement and landscaping.

Original construction documentation in full has been preserved for the site. There are archival photos from the beginning of construction until now. In historical terms, the complex has a very high value characteristic. He is the personification of the history of maritime education in Bulgaria. The personnel of this educational institution have played a significant role in the new and recent history of the country.

The historical data is stored and classified in the archives of the administration of the educational institution. The Marine School Alumni Association has a particularly valuable role in this regard.

The plastic-artistic image is conservative and solemn - corresponding to the character of the building. The architecture is neoclassical, both as a general volumetric solution and as ornamentation. The middle elevation of the central building, together with the tower crowned with a spire, have become the emblem of the complex.

In terms of urban planning, the complex is a key element of one of the most striking and consistently implemented urban planning compositions of the city of Varna, including the High Military maritime school, the Palace of Culture and Sports and the pantheon in the Sea Garden. Functionally, the complex has been preserved as closely as possible to the level of its original functions.

Precisely as such, it has a significant economic potential and is successfully included in the cultural-tourist and sports investment system of the city of Varna. The central building represents an impressive silhouette finish of the complex in question.

The object is extremely popular regionally, nationally and internationally. Bearing in mind the importance of the Navy for the development of the city of Varna in economic and social terms, the Maritime School - Varna has become one of the symbols of the city, both as a construction fact and in terms of meaning.
