Sea casino

The casino building was built in 1965-1966. The designer is arch. P. Minkov (Arch. Eng. Panayot Stefanov Minkov, 1918-1967). It is located in the Sea Garden near the entrance from "Slivnitsa" Blvd. The building has two floors, with a large terrace on the first floor facing the sea. The building has a reinforced concrete frame and brick walls. In some places, metal supports were used. The facade is conditionally divided into several elements. One is the massive volume of the casino hall itself, which is a rectangular parallelepiped on two levels. On the sea side, there is a large terrace, with a large two-level colonnade that touches the volume of the casino. There is a grand spiral staircase from the driveway to the second level terrace. The function of both the hall and the terrace has been changed many times. Due to unregulated interventions, a significant part of the decorative elements on the facade have disappeared over time. Fortunately, there are no destructible bulky items. In 2016-17, the building was completely restored and modernized by arch. Todor Daskalov. Today it functions in its full splendor as a restaurant and event hall.

The name "Casino" in our country has the citizenship of a public space (in this case - a restaurant) with a large terrace in a park environment, and not of a building for gambling games, as it is in other countries. In this sense, the Varna casino building is a typical representative of our casinos. An identical analogue is the Sea Casino in Burgas, which is a registered immovable cultural asset. In terms of style, the building was built according to the principles of modernism, which is fully respected in the restoration project.

In terms of urban planning, the building is placed in the right place in terms of approaches , exhibition and view and is an inalienable element of the Sea Garden.
