Built for the First Bulgarian School in Varna, which opened its doors in 1862. In 1865. the ground floor is converted into a church named "St. Archangel Michael". The first liturgy was held in February 1866. from a pastor Konstantin Dunovski.The iconostasis is the work of artists Nikola Vassilev and Alexander pop Georgiev.In 1870 the Community Center „Renaissance“ was opened in the building thanks to the initiative of Yanko Slavchev, Konstantin Tyulev and Dimitar Stanchev.On July 27, 1878, the Varna community welcomed Russian Liberation Army with bread and salt in the school yard. On this date is dedicated the monument "Welcome to the Brothers Liberators", which can be seen today near the bell tower.The Church of St. Archangel Michael was consecrated on November 21, 1938 by Metropolitan of Varna and Preslav Metropolis Joseph, in cooperation with Metropolitan of Plovdiv Metropolis Kiril, later Patriarch of Bulgaria.After 1959 the building was used as a Museum of the Renaissance, but since May 2002 it was returned to the Church Institution. Since then, he has been working as a temple and eparchial spiritual and educational center with a bookstore for Orthodox literature.
